Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

1 November 2008 - 12:34Madness

What is madness? This is:

As a newbie to cables, this pattern has been a little bit of a challenge. Its not really that hard, but it is time consuming. In fact, at this rate, I’m quite certain that I will be working on these for the rest of my life. They are gorgeous though.

The baby surprise jacket is coming along great.

I’ve made it through all the decreases and I’m about to start on the increases. I love the way the yarn looks in this pattern.

Mason is doing good. Mason is the previously un-named kitten. He has come out of his shell so much just in the 3 weeks we’ve had him. He now runs all over the house, causing all sorts of mayhem along the way. When he isn’t running around the house and creating chaos, he’s a real bed bug. I’ve really enjoyed watching his development, he gets stronger and bigger everyday. Like all little boys, he desperately wants to play with the big kids, in this case, the big kids being our other cats. He chases them all over the house. They are warming up to him. Like all big sisters, they play with their annoying little brother, but the moment you catch them doing it, they stop and are suddenly to cool to play with him. We haven’t caught them snuggling yet, but I’m pretty sure it won’t be long.

Everything is going great with the baby. Just like Mason, he’s growing bigger and stronger everyday. He kicks and squirms a lot, so I think he’s going to be just like his daddy. Mike is always moving, in fact, I think it’s physically impossible for him to sit still.

I ordered a couple of new orchids. Its been forever since I’ve bought new orchids, mostly because I have no space, but I’ve wanted these two for a while. They don’t have flowers on them, so I will link you to other pictures of what they will look like.
Dracula lotax

Masdevallia infracta purple
I’m fairly certain that the Dracula has two flower spikes on it. They are absolutely tiny too. I knew it was a miniature species, but these are really tiny spikes. I didn’t notice them when I first unpacked them. Hopefully all will go well, and I will get to see flowers on it soon. It looks like the Masdevallia has recently bloomed, which is about right because it has a Spring to Summer blooming season, so it will probably be a year before I get to see that one bloom. But that’s just part of growing orchids.

13 October 2008 - 20:51More Baby Boys

It seems that the baby boy growing in my belly isn’t going to be the only baby boy in our house now. Meet our new kitten. He found his way into our home after darting across our street in front of our car.

He doesn’t have a name yet, but we’re working on that. He’d somehow hurt his tail and we ended up having to remove about half of it (as you can see in the second picture), but other than that and round worms, he’s healthy. So that makes 3 cats…..but he’s worth it.

18 February 2008 - 15:31Finally some knitting

I’m still working on my blog, but it’s getting to where I want it. There were a few glitches with my import from Blogger; some of my posts lost the pictures that went with them. I was a little miffed at first, but it really doesn’t matter because you can view all of my pictures on my flickr account.

I’ve been working really hard on my Pave Sock for Anne. It’s coming along really well, I’m 1 pattern repeat away from the heel. My picture is a bit out of date since it was taken when my Pave was a wee baby.

I’m working on Pave exclusively so I can get it done for Anne in a timely manner, but I do have several other projects on the back burner.

I really enjoyed making my Pomatomus mitts, so I decided that I would make a pair of Pomatomus socks. And, I just so happened to have the perfect yarn in my stash. You can also find Dani’s yarn at her new store: Sunshine Yarns. Her yarns are gorgeous, and really nice to knit with.

I bought some Dexter inspired sock yarns from dharmafey. I decided to use the Dexter colorway to make another pair of Bellatrix socks.

This one is hibernating until I finish the Pave Socks because I had to grab my US 0 needles off it. It’s currently too embarrassed of it’s needle nakedness to have a picture taken of it, so it is hiding shyly behind its ball of yarn.

In between all these socks, I’ve been working on a Chevron Scarf. It’s a mellow knit that is good for when I’m too tired to think about charts and lace, or for TV knitting.

And last but not least, my poor neglected Honeybee. This picture is proof that I have at least worked on it a little.

I have no idea what my hang up is on this one. I don’t have any problems with the pattern, and when I actually work on it, I enjoy it. I just don’t reach for it that much. Maybe I like the instant gratification of socks and mitts.

I dug up this picture of my cats.  It’s several years old now, but I still love it.
